Linux - General System Administration, LVM, Virtualization (Vagrant, KVM, Virtualbox),Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX), Apache, SELinux, Legacy Interoperability
Automation - Rancid, Expect, Selenium, REST/SOAP
Senior Network Automation Engineer, 02/2012
to 08/2016 IPsoft Inc – New York,
Led the Network Automation Team where objectives included attending meetings and owning customer facing action items, reviewing incident data for potential automation candidates, mentoring junior network automators and working with Network Operations to ensure the Operations Team met monthly/quarterly SLA.
Deployed devices with ZTP (Zero Touch Provisioning). Gathered MAC addresses from clients at remote sites, setup VLANs with ip helper address of our monitoring appliances and setup DHCP scopes with requisite options. Ensured deployment was completed correctly by using Ansible to SSH into the devices and perform show commands auditing various parameters of the configuration.
Developed many perl scripts to gather data from MySQL (DBI), perform manipulation on that text, format the requisite data into an excel spreadsheet (Spreadsheet::WriteExcel) and email the attachment to a user (MIME::Lite).Rancid (Expect/TCL), Ansible, Puppet and Chef were leveraged within client environments and internally as Configuration Items numbered in the tens of thousands. These tools ensured accurate and consistent configuration was deployed across the environment.
Shell scripts were leveraged as they were portable across monitoring devices (CentOS), Jumpboxes and Network Devices that ran shells. POSIX standards were observed to ensure that scripts could be run on bash, sh and ksh. Examples included time and date calculation (for downtiming devices/ determining uptime from epochs), rudimentary arithmetic (to convert between bitrates) and auditing batch job success (backups, cron jobs, log rotation).
