Responsibility: Develop FEM design practices and provide simulation based design guidelines and support for development & production of Molded power modules within Bosch group business.

  • Worked on highly complex FEM simulations involving nonlinear contact algorithms.
  • Executed thermal and thermo mechanical simulation of molded semiconductor power modules to predict the failure in the silicon die.
  • Worked on several finite element simulations to calculate the warpage of semiconductor packages and correlated the simulation and experimental obtained warpage results.
  • Conducted device level thermal simulation of vehicle steering control unit containing printed circuit board and semiconductor packages using Ansys.
  • Characterised the visco-elastic material properties of epoxy molding compound using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis [DMA].
  • Worked with APDL to establish a systematic approach for the molding compound selection of a standard electronic power module with the help of optimization procedures.
  • Used sub modeling and sub structuring techniques to evaluate stresses in thin metalization layers.

  • Involved in various static and dynamic simulations which involved changing boundary conditions ( contacts changing with time) and non linear material properties.
  • Performed coupled thermal thermo-mechanical simulations to simulate the cooling down, active and passive thermal cycles during the reliability test of molded modules.
  • Solder creep evaluation, to evaluate the relative life time prediction of solder in the ECUs.
