I was hired as an independent truck driver for Total Xpress, Inc in October of 1997. I retained that position until 2014 at which time I was offered the position of Assistant Safety Director. The then current Safety Director was terminated soon after and I was offer the position of Safety Director. I held that position until December of 2017 until the company unexpectedly closed its doors and filed for bankruptcy. This position encompassed everything from The Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations, writing company policy on safety standards, internal audits, insurance audits, working with the company legal team, attending safety and OSHA seminars, and adhering to all city, state and federal safety regulations.
