RATING VETERANS SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, GS 12 STEP 8
Professional Profile

Rating Veterans Service Representative with more than 14 years of experience completing, reviewing and implementing high quality rating decisions while serving in recent years as a mentor. As mentor and journey level Rating Veterans Service Representative, I apply laws, conduct research, and review regulations daily. I conduct an analysis of the evidence and use qualitative and quantitative techniques to assist others in completing quality decisions. Additionally, I perform independent reviews for trainees and provide feedback on quality to evaluate deficiencies throughout the claims process.  I provide assistance and relay the rationale with citations to support discrepancies.

Moreover, I work with management and employees to identify deficiencies in performance and identify training needs.  I also assess for trends for training by analyzing results and decisions. Reviewing for quality decisions plays a large role in my current job duties.  I communicate orally and in writing the problem areas that are revealed.  Similarly, I share with trainees and my coach the process required for improvement based on analysis of the rating decisions I review.  Based on my years of experience, I also am proficient with identifying skill gaps and have taught training classes.

Quality decisions are more than business outcomes; they are grounded in showing respect and gratitude for all who have served and their families. Our mission continues to drive my motivation, even after nearly 15 years as a Rating Veterans Service Representative, to keep striving for the highest quality decisions. The population we serve deserves nothing less. Therefore, I know my passion and experience have prepared me to be a member of the Quality Review Team.

I have been providing high quality rating decisions for nearly 15 years. My strong medical background as a Registered Nurse with a well rounded liberal arts education has proved to be an asset. I have provided onsite training for Rating Veterans Service Representatives.  As a mentor, I review and provide comments on the adequacy of rating decisions and take necessary steps to correct any deficiencies. For the last several years I have been a mentor and second signature reviewer for entry level and intermediate level Rating Veterans Service Representatives. I have many years of experience with processing, reviewing, and completing various types of claims from pension to special operations. My years of experience provide me with an unmatchable amount of knowledge about the requirements for providing high quality outcomes and services for our Veterans.

My strong medical background gives me an edge when weighing and analyzing medical evidence. I have medical experience in many diverse areas to include public health, case management, operating room procedures, clinic management, and in gastrointestinal procedures. These experiences have additionally fostered my communication skills with people from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. My nearly 15 years of experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs has prepared me for this position. I have many years experience in researching laws, problem solving, interpreting examinations, and providing quality decisions in a timely manner. I have learned effective time management and evaluation skills to effectively meet established goals and objectives.  Also, I have prepared and conducted training activities.
