Symposium of Advanced Wound Care conference, Novermber 2-4 2018, Las Vegas, NV
- Speaker and Presenter of Clinical Research results at the SAWC FAll 2018 conference. Research title “Early Clinical Experience using an ECM Dressing with ionic silver in Diabetic pts with lower extremity ulcers”. This presentation was a result of a 6 month long qualitative study on the utilization of an ovine ECM/Ag+ on diabetic patients with high-risk, non-infected lower extremity ulcers by assessing wound closure rates and symptoms of clinical infection. This combined study strategy approach of using an ovine ECM dressing coated with Ag+ offered a useful approach for the management of high-risk Diabetic Foot Ulcers. This study was a collaboration with Simone Morissette, NP and the advance practice clinicians at Anthem's outpatient wound care centers located in Southern California.
John A. Boswick Burn and Wound Care Symposium, February 3-7, 2019, Maui, HI
- Speaker and CME presenter. Provided CME eligible educational research in the sphere of wound care. Title of CME presentation -
“Achieving Improved Wound Healing Time and Costs Savings in the Outpatient Wound Care Setting by Utilizing an Extracellular Matrix Dressing”. This research involved comparing the average costs and healing time of a retrospective group by reviewing medical records of patients with DFUs, venous and arterial ulcers treated with non-ECM wound care products with a prospective study group that had the same criteria of DFUs, venous and arterial ulcers and utilized ECM wound care products between the period of October 2017 and March 2018. The research was a collaboration with Simone Morissette, NP.
Symposium of Advanced Wound Care conference, May 7- 11 2019, San Antonio, TX
- Presented research on “ Extracellular Matrix Technology for Assessing Wound Protease Concentrations”. The study was a collaboration between Dr. Michael Bonn and Simone Morissette, NP and conducted between November 2018 to March 2019 at wound care centers located in Southern California. The study was based off of the early experience in the utilization of ECM technology in wound care that linked its effectiveness to the appearance of residual ECM in the wound bed. The observations led to the proposal that the appearance of residual ECM can be used as a surrogate for wound proteases. The study employed a simple treatment algorithm with the use of ECM as an indicator of wound proteases and results were qualitatively assessed by blinded reviewers and correlated to wound chronicity and wound proteases.
