  • Investigate all educator certification applicants with prior criminal histories, including interviews with applicants, review of court documents and review of police reports.
  • Participate in all State Department of Education (SDE) professional practice committee meetings, in particular the Certification Review Committee.
  • Serve as the SDE's contact to the National Clearinghouse of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC).
  • Responsible for maintaining updates in the Clearinghouse database of all educator disciplinary actions adopted by the SBE in South Carolina.
