Preschool Teacher and Assistant Director, 01/2011 to Current
The Sunshine House Early Learning Academy – Greenwood, ,
As a preschool teacher, I had to plan and create a curriculum based off of the Arizona Early Learning Standards and First Things First Program for children ages three to five years old. I taught preschool to children Monday through Thursday from 8:00-11:30 am. On Fridays, I would plan for the next week ahead and sanitized play equipment each day and every Friday to maintain safety and cleanliness. I was required to maintain an organized and structured classroom with education challenges for the children. I established daily routines that were easy for the children to follow such as daily lesson plans and weekly lesson plans. I assisted and supervised 20 children throughout the day, gave one on one attention to children while maintaining overall focus on the entire classroom. I communicated on a daily basis with the children, parents, and families regarding their children's education. I nurtured a supportive learning environment that was often used as a model for other classrooms.
As an Assistant Director, I was required to hold employee meetings for the employees and train new employees. I was also assigned to prepare training's for the employees so that they could receive their eighteen hours of training per year as required by AZDHS and AZDES. I maintained employees files, assigned scheduling according to meeting the needs of children and state requirements. I was in charge of collecting and receiving payments from families. Communicating with families about certain needs for the families. I addressed behavioral and learning issues with parents and daycare management.
Other duties included daily cleaning such as cleaning bathrooms, kitchen and dishes, sweeping and mopping, and deep cleaning classroom.
