  • While in the Pollution Control Building, check all valves, insuring no leaks, air leaks, or chemical spills. Clean up any spill in accordance with safety & health policies.
  • Responsible for checking water level on all three collection tanks. 8 ft. of water needed for start up of Filtration Process. If less than 8 ft., wait for Plater chemical tank drops, or waste water return from entire factory.

* Before start up of Filtration Process:

  • Insure Anionic Polymer, Calcium Chloride, & Co-Precipitant are all at running levels & mixing.
  • Check Neutron Reactor Screen; place mixers MN4, MN5, & MN6 into automatic.
  • Check pH Adjust Screen; place mixer M+10 into automatic.
  • Check Collection Tanks Screen; place pump Cp1B into automatic.
  • Insure CVCTB-1 valve is open.
  • Filtration Process will now be started at this point.
  • Responsible for performing City Water Compliance Test. After Polluted Water runs through Filtration Process, it goes to Compliance Tans & waits for release back to the City of Athens. When Collection Tank is full, I then collect water samples for Compliance Test to be performed at Lab.
  • For Compliance Test; Test pH levels of water sample, add 1 Mill. of Acid into water sample, Test for Zinc & Chromium on AA Machine. When Compliance Test has a passing result, then responsible for the release of clean water back to the City.
  • Responsible for documenting all Titrations & Testing results into the Daily Sample Log Sheet, signed & dated, for the next shift Technician.
  • Responsible for documenting how many gallons of water ran through Filtration Process for that date, signed & dated, for the next shift Technician.
  • At Sludge System Screen; check Filter Press and drop if necessary, then cycle & start back up.
  • Ending shift Responsibilities:
  • Wash out chemical totes from Strut Plater.
  • Fill Calcium Chloride RA14 tank & Anionic Polymer RA15 tank so they are ready for next shift Technician.
  • If Zinc Dip Tank has been dropped, refill tank and add A & B Chemicals.
  • Responsible for ending shift walk through of Strut Dept. Plater & the Pollution Control Building, checking all valves & pumps, insuring no leaks, air leaks, leakage, or spills. Clean up any spills on floor in accordance with safety policies.
