During my service as a U.S. Marine I've served as a team leader and squad leader, managing a team of twelve Marines at any given time. I have received training on conventional physical security. I gained knowledge of building infrastructures (i.e. building access, proper location of security cameras, and importance of maintenance and inspections).
While deployed overseas, I had the opportunity of providing instruction to the Korean ROK Marines and the Japanese Police Force. The subject matter of the training was non-lethal weapons, tactics, and riot control.
Additionally, I have working knowledge of OC (pepper spray), Taser and other non-lethal weapons.
In the course of my term with the USMC, I have deployed twice in high intensity combat zones. I worked in conjunction with the United States and Japanese Police Force for one year in total. I patrolled in vehicles and on foot through local cities securing the public's safety. While deployed to the demilitarized zone in Korea, one of my main responsibilities was to secure South Koreans safety from North Koreans entering their country. It was sometimes necessary to execute restraint and self-defense. I wrote incident reports regarding the detainees that were arrested and captured. The fact that I earned my Black Belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program was invaluable.
During my deployments, I was responsible for maintaining 100% accountability of my platoon's assigned weapons and equipment worth more than $60M. I accrued over 100 volunteer hours while serving in Korea and Japan. During this time, I built a rapport with the communities by assisting children seeking homes and improving the sanitation of the streets while gaining and gathering intelligence.
Additionally, while standing my 24 hour duty post in the area of operation, I would maintain order by protecting life and property. Becoming a first responder to emergencies became an everyday occurrence. My normal responsibilities included conducting investigative stops, vehicle searches, subduing and restraining individuals and writing reports of incidents.
Furthermore, I assisted with traffic law enforcement which included issuing citations for violations. I was responsible for seizing and protecting evidence, gathering and analyzing facts, interviewing witnesses and taking statements. Lastly, attending over 40 hours of classroom training qualified me for conducting force protection. Force protection was vital and a major part of deployment. We were trained to prevent all measures of hostile actions against the United States. Our critical information and authorized entry into top secret facilities was imperative.
