Skills
  • Local history
  • I am a trustworthy, experienced professional who has experienced both sides of the spectrum of your housing program here in the East Bay. I am open minded and I realize that hard work and commitment make a great employee. I have been one of five women who live here and have always tried to respect myself in the eyes of the other tenants. I understand that in life we do not always get the professional respect that we might deserve from particular communities, however, I do not judge people on who they are but what they want from life. I have had the opportunity to get to know other tenants as well as experience the lack in programs and housing to help victims of domestic violence. I have been a victim myself and know the importance of having the opportunity to change your own circumstances. I am a biracial woman raised by a single parent from England so I am unbiased by those who judge others by the lack of experience and understanding of the broader world. I feel that tackling problems that face the community should be a priority to those who have lived it. I have the patience to teach people how to feel confidant in this profession, insecurity is a common place for people working with other people and education should be tool used to tackle it.
  • I believe that success should be shared and celebrated together. Nobody should feel left out of there own community or the opportunity to do what they know is right for their own community. I have also lived in the East Bay, on my own for almost twenty years. I have lived here at the U.A. for seven and they have hired the staff that are now trying to evict me. I have always wanted to help people enough to receive a degree in sociology, however, it seems as though opportunity is a must for all people not just for the isolated few. It is important that the tenants from the East Bay are provided for not excluded.
  • Personalized customer service

  • Minored in Dance since I have studied ballet since I was five years old at the Joffrey Ballet School. My parents were from two very different financial, ethnically different back rounds. After my fathers death when I was five years old I continued to study ballet in California were my mother moved. I went to the Dance Theater of Harlem when I was eleven which was another notable dance company. I was accepted into Alvin Ailey Dance Theater when I was twenty three I have learned so much not only from being in an environment of respectability but from dancing with very strong ballerinas who love to dance. I was in the company of the best who were professional for the art as well as for the company. I felt so proud to be a part of those organizations because Ballet taught me to be the best at whatever I do.
  • Graduated with a degree in Sociology from University of California at Santa Cruz. I always wanted to help people succeed and become something they could be proud of. I also studied the civil rights movement with Angela Davis. She taught the prisons as work camps which is why I became so interested in Berkeley the home of the Civil Rights movements.
