Professional Summary

Upon graduation from Concordia, I began teaching in a long term substitute position and was hired into a full time position immediately. I have experience teaching both first and fourth grades before taking time off to be at home to raise my own children. Through those years and currently I have kept my education license current. When I started back to work, I worked as a substitute for two years in all elementary grade levels. Eventually I took a job as a paraeducator at Gary D. Wright Elementary. I worked in grades Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, and Fifth grades. I worked closely with the special education teacher helping to organize students' IEP minutes and create schedules to meet students' minutes. I help provide diversified classroom instruction and group activities to successfully support students with unique strengths and learning styles. I provide accomodations to students and modify any assignments and tests as required. I keep detailed records and notes of student behavior, growth, strengths and weaknesses, and have experience administering a variety of assessments. I worked side by side with the Math Interventionist at Gary D. Wright Elementary, working with Tier 2 students that needed support and intervention but didn't qualify for Special Education, giving me experience with RTI strategies. Recently, I took a paraeducator position at Hampshire High School. I work with students in grade levels 9-12 in a variety of subject areas. I work closely with multiple classroom teachers of different subject areas and keep close communication with several case managers. Currently, I'm a multi-talented paraeducator directing students and assisting lead teachers at the secondary level but have many years at the elementary level. I am very experienced at restating lesson information, tutoring, applying rules and working with struggling students. I am familiar and comfortable with all subject areas in the curriculum at many grade levels. I understand how to differentiate and scaffold material for students to have the greatest amount of success when learning material. I am kind, patient, knowledgeable, and have reasonable high expectations for each individual student. I am very team-minded when collaborating with teachers and implementing set lesson plans and classroom activities. I am experienced in working in a variety of classrooms with a variety of teachers and I am very flexible when it comes to working with others. This past year I decided to pursue my LBS1 endorsement and I am expected to complete my endorsement at the end of June 2021.
