Jim Zons is a skilled professional in the television retailing industry, with experience dating back to the industry's infancy in the mid 1980s. Jim has worked in all aspects of the industry: from behind the scenes as an editor and producer, to scheduling and planning shows, to years of hosting in front of the camera at six nationwide television shopping networks. In addition, Jim has owned his own media consulting business for the past 20 plus years, producing television commercials, marketing videos and more for some of the biggest brands on earth, including Buffalo Wild Wings, BP, MillerCoors, Kellogg's and Walmart. He also occasionally functions as a Guest Host at EVINE Live for a variety of vendors.
As an on-air host at both CVN and Valuevision, I hosted and co-hosted several shows that set sales records, including one of the first million dollar hours at CVN. I helped recruit and train on-air hosts at America's Value Network, some of whom went on to long careers in the industry and beyond. I also helped train new hosts at Valuevision during the early days of the network while it was still located in Edina. The work I have done for clients with my business, EZ New Media, has received over 25 awards for excellence over the years, including over a dozen Telly Awards.
I was an on-air host at CVN for almost two years until the company was acquired by QVC
I was hired by AVN two months after it went on the air in 1987 to produce a brief weather report once an hour. I later became production manager and was responsible for hiring new employees, including hosts, and guiding the overall look of the network. I filled in as a host in a pinch one day, and found my calling! I continued hosting shows at AVN until I was hired by CVN in 1989.
I was hired as an on-air the second month Valuevision signed on the air in 1992, and later moved into additional roles including editing and producing product b-roll, scheduling shows and even sourcing merchandise. I left when I started my new business, EZ New Media.
