As a School Resource Officer I would use my experience to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for all children. I am skilled at law enforcement procedures, and mediation techniques. With many years of Public Service I would provide guidance to students as needed, and collaborate with staff, and the administration. I have many years of experience in following department policies, and procedures. I am adept at exercising critical decisions under routine, moderate, and highly stressful conditions. I possess the ability to remain calm, patient, and composed while exercising tact in dealing with challenging interpersonal situations. I also have the ability to assess suspicious situations, and individuals, and to respond appropriately. As a former Supervisor I feel I am a proactive leader, with strengths in communication, and collaboration. I am highly organized, and punctual with a team oriented mentality. I feel I am personable, with good conflict resolution, and community relations skills.
In my many years of Public Service I have acquired an ability to communicate well with the public, including but not limited to listening, and speaking effectively as needed. I also have excellent investigative abilities, and a Passion for Law. I possess good observational skills which are an asset in preventing criminal activity. I am a Parent of a special needs child who is Autistic, my son Anthony is 11 years old. I also have a 10 year old Daughter whose name is Justina. Both of my children attend Lacey Schools. I feel this gives me a unique ability to communicate with all children, including those with Special Needs. Prior to my employment with the Sheriff'sOffice I was also a Substitute Teacher for Berkeley Township Elementary Schools, this gave me valuable experience interacting with students of different ages in a School setting. |
Transferred from the Ocean County Security Department, to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office on May 20, 2002. Worked my entire career in the Judicial Division. I was responsible for protection of the Public, Court Staff, and the Superior Court Judge's, and worked in there Courtrooms during official court proceedings. I also worked at the screening entrances, checking people safely into the various Court Building's. I was also responsible for the care and transport of prisoner's who had court matters in Family, and Criminal Court. On May 18, 2017, I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As part of my duties as Sergeant I was responsible for Supervising around 50 Officer's in the Judicial Division. I was also appointed as the Director of the Department J-Smart, Judge's protection detail, this position entailed obtaining any known threats made against Superior Court Judge's in Ocean County, setting up a protective detail, and investigating the threat to determine the appropriate action to take. As Sergeant I was also tasked with reviewing all reports submitted to me from Officer's in my squad, which was normally around 15 Officer's. During my time as Sergeant I also wrote several Department policies, including the colored belts and shackles policy, which was used to make it easier to keep track of all equipment used when transporting Prisoners. I was also the head of the Bicycle Patrol Unit, and wrote the policy for that detail. I began my Law Enforcement career in November 1994, with the Ocean Count Security Department, and worked with the Ocean County Sheriff's Office from May 20, 2002 until my retirement on January 1, 2021. In total I have over 26 years of Law Enforcement experience
In November 1994, I began working as a Security Officer with the Ocean County Security Department. As part of my duties I patrolled all Ocean County Parks, and Building's. I was also a member of the Department's Bicycle Patrol Unit. As part of the Bike Unit I went to many Elementary Schools and spoke to the students about the importance of bicycle safety. I rose to the rank of Senior Security Officer. I remained in this position until transferring to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office in May, 2002.
As part of my duties as a Substitute Teacher for Berkeley Township Elementary Schools I would Supervise, and assist Students as needed, while implementing the lesson plan left for me by the classes teacher. I did this for grades K-6.
In June of 1990 I was hired to be a Groundskeeper at Berkeley Island County Park, in Bayville. As part of my duties I would clean the bathroom's, cut and trim the lawn, empty all garbage's, and I would walk the Park keeping an eye out for any problems that might arise. I remained in this position until being hired by the Ocean County Security Office in November of 1994.
