In this position I was installing intrusion alarms, access control wiring, home theater systems, and WiFi for a major apartment complex builder in the greater Austin area. I was the lead technician of a 3 man crew also responsible for scheduling, ordering parts, going to supply house to retrieve kits or scheduling deliveries of large orders, attending foreman's meetings, and overseeing the wiring and trim out of a 344 unit complex, a 225 unit complex, and 2 club houses.
For the intrusion alarms I wired buildings while in frame stage, and trimmed out cameras/CCTV, DVR's, hard wire and wireless motion sensors, door & window contacts, sirens, touch pads, and video monitors.
For the theater I have wired and installed indoor and outdoor speakers with volume controls, amplifiers, receivers, and WiFi.
I also wired and assisted in the installation of Centex access control systems, and Elite gate operators, card/badge readers, wiring for door strikes, and magnetic locking devices.
I installed and repaired digital and analog data lines including 2.9K, 56K, 64K, ISDN, DSL, T1, and up to DS3 circuits from Central Office locations to customer Demark. I am familiar with Fujitsu FLM 150 and Lightspan 3000 multiplexers, Pairgain technology, bonding and grounding of cables, color code splicing, and air pressure.
I would read schematic drawings or circuit layout text and install circuit per layout and make changes if needed. For repair I would use wireless lap top to run remote tests to isolate trouble if possible or physically troubleshoot the circuit if there were no automated test access points. I would go into manholes to place or repair repeaters and repeater cases for long range circuits, climb utility poles to place drop wires and replace the defective ones, use various digital and analog multi meters to test circuits and find the defect needing repair. Other duties would include maintaining and stocking a company vehicle, planning shortest routes to customer locations, and using bucket trucks for metal poles or when there was too much tension on a cable to be on a ladder or foot spikes. It was my responsibility to help customers isolate and repair problems in their equipment such as routers, modems, servers, and pbx systems when the company network was functioning properly. I also coordinated with several groups within the company simultaneously to get the problem resolved while maintaining contact with the end user and updating them on the progress and estimated completion time.
