2006 to 04/2007
Outpatient counselor Rimrock Foundation City, STATE,

Assessments, including biopsychosocial histories, testing, family interviews, and school records and input if required. Exit interviews and recommendations. Conduct outpatient groups and individual sessions. Conduct Aftercare groups and Relapse Prevention Groups. Keep accurate and timely notes on all sessions as well as progress notes. During this phase of my employment I was asked to create an Aftercare program for clients with eating disorders as our program was not effectively supporting those clients. As a part of that re-design, I included a study that determined that for many clients OA was ineffective at times and even counterproductive at times and I became instrumental in the establishment of an ABA group that became a support group for our program as well as the community at large. I also led family groups for one week a month as a part of Family Week.

08/1994 to 06/1997
Relationship Counselor Catholic Marriage Advisory Board City, STATE,

I was trained by this organization who, in collaboration with Reading University, selected and trained individuals to work for them as relationship counselors. The purpose of this organization was initially to help marriage to last, but any person or couple was accepted for help regardless of religion or sexual preference. During this time, I worked with married couples, gay couples, and individuals from a great diversity of cultural backgrounds including an African family with multiple "wives." During this time I developed some of the skills I came to rely on later in my career: demonstrating empathy and unconditional positive regard, establishing an alliance, keeping an open and curious mind, and close listening and "checking in."
