I am a freelance immigration clerk Presently compile and documents for four attorneys in New York. I am US citizen and do not require sponsorship. Previously, have worked for the Consular/Visa Section for the last 20 years. The Department of State approved my special immigrant visa based on my outstanding performance. In the role of administrative support was responsible for drafting correspondence, preparing reports for the chief of section and the Department of State in Washington DC. Served as the head of the visas section and supervised 14 Foreign Service nationals. Performed complex and diverse administrative duties that involve high-level internal and external contacts and maintained several important statistics and files for the head of the mission. Draft visa related letters to Congressman and Senators. Prepared standard letters, reports, and memos, including responding to routine mail using appropriate content and format to all visa applicants. Also, compiled, formatted, produced, sorted, and/or distributed mail/computer reports as required in an accurate and in a timely way. Liaise between the consulate and various departments related to visa in the United States and primary contacts in India. Have extensive knowledge in working with MS Word, Ms Excel, MS access and Ms Powerpoint. Ensured that all supplies required for the section are available and if necessary, make a periodic request to the procurement section of the Consulate to replenish the stock. Photocopy all standard material for day to use of the consular officers. If the section has an outreach program, then prepare, copy and print all required materials. In 1988, the Department of State (Consulates and Embassies) were required to change from manual system to the computer system; all visa files had to be keyed in the computer system for the Chennai Consulate. Data entry included all information on the visa petition like the biographic information, sponsors information from the United States, visa classification, priority dates and several small visas related information. Was the key player of the data entry team. This project was done after office hours for 4 hours daily (5 pm to 9 pm), data entry was completed by schedule provided by the Administrative Office of the Consulate. In 1996, the Consulate Chennai moved to the High-density filling system because of the ever-growing visa files and of the limited space in the building. Coordinated the movement of files from the location for the HDF system to be installed. Arranged all the files in alphanumeric order, prepared file folders, labels as per the HDF system in a temporary location. On completion of the installation moved all the files to HDF system as advised by the technical team, which arrived from Washington DC. As required by the visa administrative guidelines, after certain period visa files will have to be returned to the originating office in the United States. Was responsible in the generating all the reports through the computer system periodically and culled these files and ensured timely return to the United States after making pertinent notations in the computer system.
HONORS: Successfully completed with honors the Visa Correspondence Course conducted by the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Washington DC. Received three meritorious honor awards with cash from the Department of State, Washington DC. Recent award was the immigrant visa for my family and me to enter the United States for my outstanding performance.
