Perform a wide variety of environmental protection duties requiring detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as well as site-specific management plans, including:

Hazardous Waste Management:

  • Serve as work lead for Waste Retention and Transfer (WRT) facility.
  • Train hazardous waste handlers in packaging, labeling, and preparing shipments of hazardous waste in accordance with 49 CFR.
  • Assign tasks and perform oversight of hazardous waste operations at WRT facility.
  • Perform QC checks on work performed by hazardous waste handlers and operators.

Inspections of Hazardous Waste Accumulation Areas and Storage Tanks:

  • Perform inspections of SAA and CAA hazardous waste sites, and implement or recommend corrective actions. Train new inspectors in these tasks. Work performed independently without supervision.
  • Perform inspections of oil/water separators, above ground and UST storage tanks. Familiar with leak detection systems.
  • Prepare and submit to government monthly inspection reports detailing all inspections performed by all inspectors during the month. Performed independently without supervision.

Emergency Spill Response:

  • Lead and participate in land-borne hazardous substance spill response activities in various roles including: Incident Commander, Safety Officer, and Entry Team leader.
