Substitute for ~3months Sci & SS. Asked to take over 9th & 10th Grade English midyear. Executed extremely organized and pre planned modalities resulting in rich curricula. Sought to hold students accountable for execution of quality work and timeliness. Focused on meaningful content, discussion, and written analysis of various genres of Literature. Responded to student work & papers with thoughtful guidance. Curated content appropriate Classic works for consumption; culminating in frequent Socratic Seminars, catalyzing deep thoughts & reflections.
Gathered and developed my curricula based on a said set of goals. Interested in teaching the Socratic Method through “Center for Lit” curriculum; working with literature authored by the likes of Dickens, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, & Tolstoy. Familiarized myself with classic curricula such as “McGuffey Readers”, “The Story of the World”, “English Grammar Recitation” Series, Algebra I, & Pre Algebra Saxon (Math).
Strove to teach various styles and genres of art. Intertwining the story of the artist and societal relevance. Some styles of art taught: lithography (Edvard Munch), Impressionism (Vincent Van Gogh), Cubism (Picasso), & Realism (Claude Monet), amongst many others.
I was ELAR Curriculum Mapping, Lesson planning & execution. Furthermore, for structuring and outfitting literary centers for engagement of studies in active learning environment. Emphasis was placed on honing phonemic awareness skills: through isolation, substitution, & identity. Devised various games at centers, helping to create an educational but playful ecosystem. Leveled; differentiated learning structures were used to help grow all students. Recitation of classic rhymes and singing introduced them to figurative language. Fine motor and gross motor development were accounted for in daily lesson planning; including but not limited to penmanship, cutting & pasting, rhythmic gestures, and story interaction.
