Education
Associate of Applied Science: Fire Science Technology05/2012Casper CollegeCasper, WY
Relevant Coursework, Licenses, and Certifications:
I graduated from the Fire Science Technology program at Casper College with an Associates degree in Fire Science Technology in May of 2012. The program has really helped increase my knowledge of both structure fires and wildfires. Although many structure fire courses were required, I took all of the available wildland fire coursework at Casper College. Some of these courses are:Introduction to Fire, Introduction to Wildland Firefighting, Firefighter Fitness, Basic Emergency Care, English 1010: Composition, United States and Wyoming Government, Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, Apparatus and Procedures, Hazardous Materials, Rescue Practice-Fire Service, Firefighter Fitness Audit, Public Speaking, Intermediate Algebra, Medical Terminology, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior, and Wildland Leadership. I have received many certifications during my time at Casper College. These include: I-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System, completed on 09/10/2010, ICS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, completed on 09/26/2010, Certificate of Training for S-190, S-130, and L-180, completed on 11/18/2010. American Heart Association Health care Provider BLS (CPR & AED) Certification, Completed in 12/2010 and re-certified every 2 years since then.
Additional Information
  • Additional Information: I have been in the Boy Scouts of America organization since I joined Cub Scouts when I was 6. In 2003 I joined Boy Scout Troop 480. Throughout those years I became confident with the outdoors, the equipment used there, and how to teach others about nature. I worked my way through the ranks and just before my 18th birthday, I earned the Eagle Scout Award. This is something special to me because it took me 7 years to receive it and a lot of hard work. As a requirement for this rank, I had to organize and complete a community service project. For mine, I renovated the Beef Prep Barn at the Montrose County Fairgrounds. This barn is used during different events held at the Fairgrounds including the County Fair each year. This project and my other experiences in Scouting helped me develop leadership skills, accomplish goals, and become very comfortable living in the outdoors. I strive to live every day by the Scout Oath and Law.
