I am applying for the job as Fire Management Officer because of my enjoyment of working for the SCFC. I have been in a forestry career for the last 25 years. During this time, I have dealt with corporate, private and state owned land managers. Over time i have seen seed orchards planted and and seedlings developed to produce superior trees. Since becoming a wildland firefighter, it has made me realize how important fire is to the production of pine plantations and the importance of it to the state of South Carolina's economy. I have experience in installation and maintenance of fire lines and knowledge of control burning. I have worked with large and small landowners and have many acquaintances in the area. I know the area and the terrain which is important in fire fighting. I have served on the Hampton County Soil and Water Commission board as a commissioner for the last five years.
