Assigned to the training division and complete multiple administrative tasks as assigned. Provide support with fire suppression, emergency medical services, and technical rescue operations.
Assist in the development of department policies, procedures, and guidelines. Promote community preparedness and operational readiness by networking with local, regional, state, and federal partners to identify and mitigate known or potential hazards. Determine needs for new equipment, research alternative funding options and secure funding through the most appropriate source. Prioritize related department expenditures, procures equipment, and assist with planning replacement cycles. Represent the department by participating in community and professional meetings such as visiting committees, working groups, town council meetings, and mutual aid meetings. Assist in evaluating, selecting, and training new personnel.
Assess department training needs and coordinate training as needed. Recommend modifications of department training and operations based on current national standards. Responsible for coordinating and conducting department training as assigned. Coordinate department training activities with private, local, regional and federal partners.
Manage equipment, conduct training, and implement policy needs for technical rescue. Make technical decisions, provide direction and supervision for rescue operations. Inspect department apparatus and equipment. Maintain poise during high pressure and high stress situations in an effective manner utilizing team dynamics. Work cooperatively and effectively in high pressure/high risk situations
Conduct needs assessment for training, conduct site reviews, create incident action plans and emergency action procedures, create curriculum lesson plans and presentations, conduct lecture and practical instruction, create press releases, manage inter-agency logistics, inspect equipment, supervise 24 students and 3 instructors per class in the most dangerous training environment utilized by the fire academy.
Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel; Great organizational skills with patient management and interpersonal skills.
