Responsible for all aspects of managing equipment and shop operations for all 37 companies under the Jurgensen umbrella. Responsible for equipment and vehicle acquisition, disposal, budget preparation, forecasting, financial and cost analysis, parts department operation, ensuring equipment uptime an availability, dispatching of equipment to jobs in working order, and ensuring repairs and maintenance were performed on-time and under budget. Managed over 100 employees under eight managers who reported directly to me.

Developed a data-driven approach using cost analysis to develop a model for planned equipment replacement and overhaul. This method proved effective and reduced the hourly rate for asphalt pavers alone from $75 to $55. Conceived and developed (with the help of IT department) an RFID fuel tracking system with GPS location reporting which resulted in a 10% reduction in fuel shrinkage as well as improving location tracking. I developed a data-driven approach to equipment inspection, preventative maintenance and predictive repair, reducing cost and extending useful machine life. I also conceived and developed a method to import hourmeter readings directly into our enterprise software reporting system, increasing PM compliance. 
Shop Supervisor, 01/2002 to 01/2007

Supervised daily repair work of 35 mechanics, welders, painters, and yard personnel. Set schedules for machine completion based on job needs and dispatched employees to the field as emergency breakdowns warranted. Developed repair budgets for machine overhauls. Responsible for hiring and dismissal decisions. 

During this time, I developed a computerized work order system to track and schedule needed repairs, using a number of codes to denote the skill typed necessary to effect the repairs and to prioritize the work. The system is still in use to this day. 

I also developed a PM tracking system using our enterprise software system to generate reports on machines coming due for maintenance in order to improve PM compliance. 



Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic, 08/1996 to 01/2002

Primarily responsible for repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting for asphalt pavers, compactors, and milling machines, although I worked on all equipment owned by the companies, including excavators, articulated dump trucks, dozers, and wheel loaders. During the summer, I was responsible for field repairs and assisting crews with paving and milling operations, including screed adjustments and grade control issues to resolve paving problems in the field. 

During winter months, I was responsible for complete overhauls of asphalt pavers, milling machines, and compactors.
