Education
University of California - Santa Barbara, CABachelor's: Sociology
  • GPA: 3.65
  • Since my Freshman year I have been the Publicity Director for a campus organization called Students for Reproductive Justice. Students for Reproductive Justice is a part of the Associated Students Human Rights Board at UCSB and we are committed to changing structural inequalities regarding reproductive justice at UCSB and beyond.
  • This position has helped me develop my graphic design, communication, and marketing skills immensely. As Publicity Director I have created content for our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, grown our Instagram to 500 followers, helped plan and execute events on campus related to reproductive justice, and publicized our events on social media and with posters around campus.
  • I have also helped run phone banks to gather support for California Senate Bill 24, which will provide the medical abortion pill to the campus health centers of all UC's and CSU's. Last year I traveled to Sacramento with fellow members of Students for Reproductive Justice to encourage representatives to support the bill, which ended up being passed by the state assembly and signed into law by Governor Newsom.
  • Since my Freshman year I have also been a member of the Outreach Committee of Isla Vista Trading Post. Our mission at Isla Vista Trading Post is to promote a circular economy in Isla Vista and provide a sustainable alternative to fast fashion by collecting clothing donations from UCSB students and others living in Isla Vista and distributing them for free at our events. By doing so we extend the lives of garments by giving them to someone else that will wear and appreciate them and prevent them from going to landfills, as the clothing industry is one of the most wasteful in the world.
  • As part of the Outreach Committee I curate content to post on our social media, helping it to grow to over 1700 followers. I also help plan our events, publicizing them with social media posts and posters, and help out at our events by setting up, hanging clothes, and talking to people there about our organization to get the word out about what we do and get them involved.
