Educational Philosophy

INSPIRATION: The point is, art never stopped a war and never got anybody a job. That was never its function. Art cannot change events. But it can change people. It can affect people so that they are changed...because people are changed by art – enriched, ennobled, encouraged – they then act in a way that may affect the course of events... by the way they vote, they behave, the way they think.” ― Leonard Bernstein

  • Studies in music can have a valuable and lasting impact on the intellectual and emotional development of children - especially adolescents in search of a formative experience. The choral music classroom can provide a safe place for students to develop confidence while supporting peers towards a group goal. My program offers students opportunities for both individual and collaborative musical investigation, accelerated skill building, and the discovery of untapped expressive potential. I work to cultivate emotive, creative, skilled, sensitive, daring, mature, and ambitious musicians, who firmly demonstrate professionalism alongside their talent. I nurture independent learning, empowering students to be future leaders who can positively impact both their academic and social communities' quality of life through the craft inherent to the performing arts.
