Coordinated of smooth transition from original location to new space in a church classroom. Earned approval of space from Fire Marshal and Zoning before beginning of schoo yearl. Satisfied rules of grant-driven program to offer child care to families who qualified under income guidelines. Kept records of attendance and submitted to local town adminidtrator. Tracked progress of homework, observed children in play situations and communicated with educators at their school to gain insight into their learning styles and homework success. Invited volunteers to join us to share their expertise in teaching piano, tennis, art and cooking. Participated in the "Read to a Dog" program offered by our local library. Established a food-drive by placing three brightly decorated boxes at key spots (a hardware store, library and local church) which the children collected and brought to food pantry. Open-door policy for parents to join us with special projects such as constructing an edible haunted house and giant painting with spray bottles on sheets. The program has flourished because needs of the families and specific children were met and clear communication was paramount to ensuring successful outcomes.
Implemented new curriculum for children aged eight to sixteen years old to inspire and generate questions, i.e., the need to know what is true and what is believed to be a fact. Prepared interesting art ideas and other ways to explore our faith-journey by keeping a safe and supportive environment.
Provided a safe and nurturing place for children to be able to do homework, read, play games, use the playground and have a relaxed time in a school cafeteria and the adjoining playground. We were able to use a small stage to have dramatic plays, enjoy making simple snacks and make up our own games with chalk on the playground. Maintained the supply closet where our storage was located, structured a routine for doing homework after thirty minutes on the playground, prepared a table for those who were finished with their work to play quiet games until everyone was done. Kept records of daily pick-up by parents and communicated any special instructions from the teachers.
