Reporting to the Dean of SOHS, with secondary (dotted line) reporting to the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement/Executive Director of the WSSU Foundation, chiefly responsible to lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of the SOHS development strategy for major gifts, annual solicitations, research on prospective donors and advancement operations based on funding priorities of SOHS. Work closely with the General Alumni Association of WSSU, arranging meetings, staffing its committees and ensuring strong and productive relationships between its members and the academic and administrative leadership. Plan, implement and promote alumni programs that support the Institute's strategic plan as well as the goals of the Campaign in collaboration with colleagues within the Office of Institutional Advancement, the Provost's Office and throughout the schools. Create accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, projects (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, website, postal returns, etc. Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, and print publications. Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in programs. Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed.

Positions involved recruiting and supervising student peer/tutor/mentors (for FYE) in addition to working with a staff of three (3) to provide leadership strategies for student life activities.
