Justice Integration Services (JIS) is the technology department dedicated to serving fifteen Nashville judicial agencies.
The department provides network services, desktop support, and application development and support.
More specifically, JIS develops, integrates, and supports all court case management systems utilized by member agencies, and works in partnership with law enforcement agencies to provide a fully integrated criminal justice system for the city of Nashville.
JIS also develops web sites and provides real time access to data to the public.
JIS has won two national awards for one of its websites.
JIS is also responsible for the setup, maintenance, support, and security of a complex, high availability, redundant infrastructure which houses highly sensitive information.
As director, it is essentially, my duty to ensure the sound development, maintenance, support, and security of the Criminal Justice Information System of Metro Nashville and Davidson County.
Responsibilities include: Managing a technical staff which includes administrative staff, project managers, software developers, database administrators, business analysts, system administrators and helpdesk technicians Managing contractors Setting vision, and developing strategic plans for the department Leading the department in the evaluation of technology to meet growing and changing needs Managing an annual operating budget of over 2 million dollars Managing capital budgets and federal grant funding of various amounts Presenting a budget to the Mayor of Nashville and the Metro Council on an annual basis Writing business cases for large, complex projects Writing Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Reviewing and approving disaster recovery plans Reviewing and implementing policies and procedures Negotiating contracts Negotiating and approving purchases Presenting annual reports to the governing policy committee comprised of elected officials Creating and implementing employee policies Interviewing and hiring staff Advising and assisting with the creation of Metro wide security policies and plans Responding to public records requests.
