My name is Shayo Anifowoshe. I believe I am a very loving and caring person. I truly love to help people. It's just something I've always genuinely enjoyed to do. During my Sophomore year of High School, I began my journey of becoming a Nurse. My Sophomore year allowed me to learn information relating to Health Science, while my Junior year allowed me to learn information relating to Medical Therapeutics. My senior year of High School taught me skills pertaining Nursing. Senior year was my most experiential year because I was able to attend two different medical fields in order to truly understand what it takes to be a Nurse. The first place I attended was NHC Healthcare, a nursing home in Franklin, TN. The second place included Williamson County Medical Center. Both of these encounters allowed me to truly get hands-on experience and interact with patients. My interactions with patients included me performing ambulation with a walker, giving a bed bath, feeding them, oral care, measuring blood pressure, measuring and recording pulse, as well as respiration. Some other skills performed by me included mouth care for an unconscious patient, dressing residents (with weak arms as well as functioning arms), and hair care. I was also required to communicate with my team members and record information on the patient chart, which allowed me to gain additional experience on documentation, as well as my communication skills. Involvement in a few unpleasant encounters also taught me more about patience, compassion, and other traits that are very important when working in the medical field. After these experiences and further training, I took my CNA and became Certified. I am now attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in order to become a Nurse.
