I appreciate all consideration for this position and would value the opportunity to be able to be a part of the Florida Fish and Wildife Conservation Commission. I look forward to the opportunity to embark on a career serving the state of Florida. A brief summary of my career up to this point follows below.

I am currently serving as a Correctional Officer LIeutenant for the Florida Department of Corrections. I began my career in January, 2015 as a Correctional Officer and since have always strived to accomplish, learn, and do more. As a Correctional Officer I learned how to monitor, control, and appropriately deal with all facets of an institution working in roving patrol, internal security, confinement, dormitory and control room settings. Shortly after gaining my Correctional Officer certification from the Correctional Officer Basic Recruit Academy I joined the Rapid Response Team at my institution where I learned various techniques in crowd management, defensive tactics, riot control, de-escalation techniques, appropriate use and knowledge of lethal and less lethal munitions, as well as appropriate policy and procedures relating to my responsibilities on the Rapid Response Team as well as relating to my duties as a Correctional Officer. During my time as a Correctional Officer on the Rapid Response team I dealt with several riotous situations where my team and I responded and appropriately isolated, quelled, and managed situations in a safe and timely manner.

In April 2017, I promoted to Correctional Officer Sergeant at Okaloosa Correctional Institution. In my time as a Sergeant I worked in a supervisor's role in internal security, confinement, dormitories, and control room settings where I primarily taught my assigned officers how to properly discipline, monitor, and control the situations surrounding them as well as the inmates in our custody. As a Sergeant I routinely assisted my Shift Supervisor in paperwork preparation, and overall workload maintenance of our daily duties. While holding the rank of Sergeant I was promoted to Assistant Team Leader of the Rapid Response Team. As the Assistant Team Leader I assisted my Team Leader with the scheduling of practices, training techniques, training of both seasoned as well as new team members, equipment control, and planning for riotous situations as well as competitions. During my tenure as the Assistant Team Leader my squad accomplished a 2nd place, and 3rd place finish in the yearly Special Teams competition for our region.

In November 2020, I promoted to the rank of Correctional Officer Lieutenant. While holding the rank of Lieutenant I primarily dealt with staff management and scheduling, building daily rosters, institutional and training planning, report preparation, training of both Sergeant and Officer roles, grievance and PREA review and documentation, and overseeing the daily operations of both minor Work Camp operations as well as major operations dealing with a Main Unit setting, as well as an array of other duties dealing with staff management, review, and encouragement. Following my promotion to the rank of Lieutenant I was promoted to the rank of Team Leader on the Rapid Response Team. As Team Leader I deal with scheduling of training, paperwork dealing with team duties and training, competition preparation, team management and recruiting, and team preparation for all circumstances. While holding the Team Leader role, my Rapid Response Team accomplished a 1st place finish in the regional Special Teams competition.

In my time with the Florida Department of Corrections I have received all required yearly and position trainings and have sought further training to better myself as well as my career including Magnus Leadership Training, Smith & Wesson M&P 1.0 Pistol Armorer, Colt M16/AR-15 Rifle Armorer, Sergeant Leadership Training, General Instructor Techniques, Defensive Tactics Instructor, CMS Firearms Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Emergency Vehicles Operations for Corrections Instructor, Duty Aerosol Instructor, Less Lethal Chemical Munitions Instructor, Less Lethal Specialty Impact Munitions Instructor, Less Lethal Distraction Devices Instructor, Basic Locksmith Training, Advanced Locksmith Training, have completed the Special Tactical Problems course, and have completed the Rapid Response Team Leadership Training Academy.

Thank you for any and all consideration for this position. I look forward to the opportunity to prove my worth and determination to succeed in the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
