I began teaching Health and Physical Education in 1998 in the public school system. In February of 2016, I began a position at my prek-8th grade elementary school as a Conscious Discipline Coach. Conscious Discipline is a behavior program that focuses on the brain development of children who have experienced high levels of trauma. I have strong communication skills with families, teachers and outside resources. I facilitate many meetings within my school and am part of an MTSS team that designs support plans for students that are struggling in order to best meet their needs. I am also the mother of two adopted sons that have experienced complex developmental trauma. I have worked closely with trauma therapists and school teams over the past six years to create a therapeutic environment in both settings. My sons are flourishing emotionally, socially and academically.
