As an Action Officer I was responsible for providing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with information and advice on US military Pandemic Influenza plans, represented the US military on Pandemic Influenza issues within US executive federal department coordinating forums.

As Executive Assistant to the Joint Staff's Strategic Plans and Policy Deputy Director of Politico-Military Affairs Western Hemisphere (a U.S. military 1 star general officer), I was responsible to him for ensuring advice and support to carry out duties as directed by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with regard to military affairs and policy in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America.

As Executive Officer I led over 250 personnel in the operation, upkeep and maintenance of a US Navy destroyer. Duties included direct oversight of the ship's training program, travel budget, maintenance system, risk management program, safety program and the health and welfare of the crew.

I coordinated the operations of numerous surface combatant ships (cruisers, destroyers, frigates) for the USS Nimitz Battle Group to include a deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise in 2004.

As Operations Officer, I led over 50 personnel in the overall operational employment of a US Navy ship to include deployments to the Western Pacific and the Arabian Sea/Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001. I was responsible for ship's operations and training schedules; ship's training plan; communications and IT systems; coordinating, developing and executing exercises with other US and foreign naval units; and coordinating and executing the ship's participation in real world contingencies and operations.

I assisted the Operations Officer and the Commander of a US Navy Battle Group in coordinating and employing the operations of submarines, surface combatant ships (cruisers, destroyers, frigates), an aircraft carrier and carrier based aircraft (e.g. F/A-18s) throughout the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf.

As a second tour division officer I led over 15 people in the operation and maintenance of a US Navy ship's auxiliary engineering systems (e.g. air-conditioning, potable water production, refrigeration plants, etc.) and electrical plant.

As a division officer I led over 20 people in the operational deployment of a US Navy ship and the maintenance and upkeep of the ship's electrical plant.
