The purpose of this study is to attempt to identify trending characteristics in rural geographical locations that have high crash and mortality rates to allow for an accurate prognosis as to which particular intervention would be most effective and accepted by the rural population. The results of this study suggest that it is the sociocultural behavior and attitudes of rural drivers towards unsafe driving that is the driving force of among those that live in rural communities towards car crashes, versus physical environmental factors. This study provides more understanding of the relationship between the sociocultural attitudes and behaviors of people from rural communities towards driving activities, as well as the perception of the risk involved.
