Primary duty of the Border Patrol Agent is to enforce federal laws and regulations in regards to immigration as stated under Chapter 8 of the United States Code of Regulations. Operational duties include: immigration check point inspections, detection of illegal immigrant entries, apprehensions of undocumented illegal immigrants, detection of illegal narcotics, and processing of undocumented illegal immigrants. Prosecution of criminal aliens, developing criminal cases, and appearing in court for testimonial are also required with processing. Establishing communications with other governmental offices from both the U.S. and other countries, law enforcement agencies, and the public are other duties associated with the Border Patrol. Duties are conducted in English and Spanish.
