Results-oriented Mechanical Engineer with a hands-on approach to tackling projects and accomplishing goals as well as highly effective oral and written communication skills, looking for an entry-level engineering position in which valuable experience can be gained relevant to the field of engineering. An efficient worker leveraging a strong technical background in bringing products from the laboratory to mass-manufacturing and rapid prototyping. Also versed in biology and bio-medical applications and a skill for writing technical reports and papers.
Wide range of training including milling, machining, and boring tools, as well as Instron Impact Testing machines used to derive values for strength and strain of various elements in order to test for failure.
A concentration through curriculum in the field of Materials Engineering has created familiarity with equipment used in Advanced Materials Characterization processes including techniques which implement Scanning Electron Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy.
Some background experience with electrical circuits and Arduino motherboards in order to produce functioning simple machines (e.g. a small battery powered motor car which autonomously drives and evades walls as long as ambient light is present). other group efforts include a functioning clock which displays time in Binary by using led bulbs to symbolize numerical values of hour and minutes.
Fortunate to have worked in conjunction with Sensata Corporation as part of a collaborative effort with UMass to design, fabricate, and test a pallet designed to support 5 Sensata hermetic motor protector devices during an embossing process.
Works in conjunction with Process Engineers to develop and maintain manufacturing techniques and processes. Recognizes and utilizes prescribed techniques to solve problems. Can recommend and execute enhancements to product and process flows.
Supports Process Engineers in establishing high yielding, cost effective processes based on product need and customer requirements. Complies with Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Sets-up and operates equipment and develop process programs. With direction from Process Engineers, can execute design of experiments (DOE), gathering data for analysis. Uses principles of Cost of Goods Sold and executes process improvements to increase cost effectiveness of manufacturing. Serves as member on cross-functional project teams. Ensures Intellectual Property issues are being considered relative to processes being developed. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Familiarity of MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-STD-883, ISO9001 and EIA/JEDEC and standards
Performed numerous daily tests (Blood and Urine) and troubleshooting methods on a to-be-released medical device meant for hospital settings. Duties included monitoring and fixing issues related to the performance and failure criteria of said device, documenting and importing all known discrepancies in functionality. Worked hand in hand with Mechanical/Systems Engineers to aid in software rollouts and design changes. Also aided engineers in the creation of verification protocols in order to accurately assess and track pass/fail criteria and report data to R&D. Interfaced with test fixtures in accordance to reliability protocols. Also processed numerical data in order to better establish a baseline model of performance.
Responsibilities include communications with various professors and research faculty, as well as updating their portfolios and research documentation. Ran various assignments for the Mechanical Engineering
department involving Photoshop and website development, layout, and formatting, as well as prepping the laboratory for professor run projects. Made sure instrumentation was calibrated and accurate up to certain tolerances based on given procedure/experiment.
