Summary

I am a 34 year old business specialist, with an incredible work ethic, retail managerial experience, and Operations experience. I concurrently held many jobs over the years, working several night club venues, while attending college full-time and part-time. I have the willingness to learn any trade and multiple skills. I have a high-caliber mindset that has allowed me to advance from an entry-level position in grocery retail, to a management position within a couple years at a very young age. While working in Las Vegas, I was a grocery manager by day and a hospitality concierge by night and proud union member for UFCW 711 & UNITE Local 165. I have been in the grocery business for the last 19 years now, working all aspects of the industry, from a rank and file union member, to operations and store management. More recently within the past few years, I transferred my career path to working for a labor union and I absolutely love it. This is probably one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I am highly looking forward to an environment that will challenge me further, while allowing me to contribute to the continued success and growth of UFCW 3000, and will allow me the ability to apply my skills and experience to a growing Union. I want to be provided with the opportunity to meet and exceed assigned goals within the orginazation of UFCW 3000. I want to help breed success in this organization, and to help coach and develop others to do the same.

03/2022 to Current
Union Representative - RTW Organizer Aeg Worldwide Los Angeles, CA,
  • I am a proud founding member of UFCW 3000, which was founded on March 1st 2022, when UFCW 21 and UFCW 1439 merged together. I currently hold the role of Union Representative, which requires me to be in the field, doing routing detail, handling scheduling and seniority issues, pay discrepancies, job classification issues, contract violations, representing members in weingarten meetings, investigations and filing grievances. I always stay busy and continue to have successful and fulfilling days that never get old. More recently, I have been focusing on identifying leaders in the workplace, rounding up members to join our CAT teams, correcting contact information for our grocery campaign this summer, and training new staff members over the past several months. I absolutely love my job however, I believe I belong in the operations side of the organization, and I would love the chance to show my worth on the executive staff within the organization. (Operations is where my heart is and always has been, and is the way I have been molded and trained to be most effective in my professional career).
08/2020 to 03/2022
Union Organizer & Representative Moncler S.P.A. Garden City, NY,
  • After almost Organizing the Suncrest Rosauers in Nine Mile Falls Spokane, I was offered a job by President Eric Renner of UFCW Local 1439, in the organizing department in August of 2020. I previously held the position of SPUR (Special Project Union Representative) or SALT subsidized by UFCW International, for roughly 9 months (in 2019) before landing a solidified spot at local 1439. I played a key role inputting all the data entry in (Action Builder) for our organizing team on the Twin City Foods Processing Plant project in Pasco WA, as well as collecting all the authorization cards before filing for an RC election. Originally, we were in the process of organizing over 600 workers however, they were seasonal employees on the processing side of the plant and this would have been too difficult, so we instead, successfully organized the variable repack, and general repack departments, as well as the warehouse workers that were not seasonal. After 1 year of hard work, and expert negotiations by our President Eric Renner, we were successful in getting a first contract and closing the deal with Twin City Foods. It had been 16 years since the last warehouse-establishment was organized in tri-cities, so it felt very good to achieve something that great, and to see hard workers who now have access to healthcare and better wages, to afford themselves and their families a better quality of life. After my time in organizing, I was offered the position of ‘Union Representative’ for the around the world contracts in Idaho and Washington, and Fred Meyer stores in Spokane. I covered 20 stores at the time, with roughly 1,400 members in both Idaho and Washington. One of my accomplishments alongside organizing Twin City Foods, was participating in a solo Right to Work Blitz, where I spent a few months down in the Lewiston & Moscow Idaho area, as well as Bonners ferry, Sandpoint, Hayden and Coeur d' Alene, signing up over 250 non-active union members. I also spent several months working in membership services with our office manager and bookkeeper at the time 'Dana King,' to keep up on the overall operations of the local, making sure we inputted all information correctly to ensure we would pass our audits with flying colors before our Merger with UFCW 21.
06/2018 to 08/2020
Grocery Night Crew Manager ROSAUERS-SUNCREST City, STATE,
  • At Rosauers I worked the graveyard shift throwing freight (stocking shelves) I was in charge of ordering all of the product ranging from grocery dry foods, organic foods to frozen foods and extra product for end displays and for the weekly ad. The Job was very labor intensive and required someone with a hands on and manual labor mindset. I Coached and trained employees and managed daily work assignments to enhance and improve on productivity. It was a very humbling experience to go from store management/Operations, to back in the trenches, but this time as a non-union rank and file associate. During my time here, I also worked as a, “Special Project Union Representative” for UFCW Local 1439, and was the organizing campaign leader. We unfortunately lost by one singular vote, and that person was out of country on vacation otherwise, they could have been there to vote in person (as is required).
08/2015 to 06/2018
Operations Manager Fred Meyer City, STATE,
  • I first started as a Relief-Assistant Operations Manager for Fred Meyer at the Port Orchard Location #655 in (2015). Then promoted and transferred to location #659 in Tumwater as an Assistant, then transferred to location #265 in Puyallup on river road (2016), then promoted to assistant and transferred to #424 on meridian in South Hill, (2017-2018) then Promoted to Front End Operations Manager (ASM) Where I worked at several locations to include; Bremerton, Gig Harbor, Tacoma (James Center), lacey, Benson Plaza, Covington, Redondo, Federal Way, Renton (District office) Burien, sumner, auburn and down at the hollywood store in Portland occasionally for training. I traveled to other locations to help them meet their metrics, improved standards and meet their assigned goals. Below is a bulleted list of those goals;
  • Directed day-to-day operations by spearheading implementation of short-term and long-term strategies to achieve business plan and profitability goals per the Kroger KLM Model. (Kroger Leadership Model).
  • Identified areas of deficiency and performed root-cause analysis to solve problems. those to include; Que-vision, SCO-utilization, and effective scheduling practices.
  • Taught classes on effective scheduling/and or schedule writing (ELMS) at many locations which resulted in very quick improvement within a couple months.
  • Developed initiatives for customer service improvement and reviewed and assessed ongoing operations. My initiatives for Fred Meyer were demonstrated rather than delegated. This had a positive outcome resulting in others adopting my tactics.
  • Responded to the companies customer requests and surveys with viable solutions for customers resulting in much higher customer survey index ratings.
02/2015 to 08/2015
Grocery 3rd Key Assistant QFC - Kroger Company Stores City, STATE,
  • My job at QFC in Gig Harbor was very similar to that of my others in the grocery management field. I worked back stock on off-load nights I worked fast movers, slow movers, ordered for the ad and for frozen and haba as well. My 4th and I built ends and worked shoulder to shoulder to ensure our store looked great. I worked together with my crew and made sure we operated according to Kroger Key Retailing Standards. I received the produce, Floral, Frozen, Grocery, Deli, bakery and meat loads as well. Being a specialty store, we also received many dpi items. I received very short notice that our store was closing to become Kroger’s first 'Main & Vine Store' Luckily, Kroger had a job placement program already established for those who were going to be out of a job due to the store closure. Fred Meyer held a meeting to place qualified associates in a role at Fred Meyer. I was fortunate enough to land a position in the operations department at Fred Meyer, and started my training the following week in Port Orchard.
06/2013 to 01/2015
Store Director Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market City, STATE,

My experience at Fresh & Easy was an interesting one, considering I took the position knowing that Yucaipa Companies Owner 'Ron Burkle' had purchased Fresh & Easy from the English grocery chain 'Tesco' and they had already filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the CEO 'Jim Keyes' was on his way out, with a plan to liquidate the company. I ended up providing bottle service to Grocery entrepreneur Ron Burkle at one of my nightclub venues, while he was celebrating his purchase of the Fresh & Easy markets. I explained to him that I worked in the Grocery business for my day job, and without going any further into the conversation, he offered me a position on the spot. After ironing out the details and compensation for the role, I accepted the position. Below is an explanation of my responsibilities in that role;

  • I was required to complete many tasks and duties throughout the day and night that had to be done correctly with a deadline/time constraint. These tasks consisted of the following; ordering product for the store per what I think is going to sell based on movement and to record of what we have sold throughout the week, communicating with all vendors and DSD as to where displays will be set up and what product I need for the displays and what happens to be on ad that week, gaping items to check negative stock on hand (nsoh) to determine what I need to order and how much product I don't have that I need to order (allocating correctly), throwing freight, rotating stock and making sure I have no credits, waste or out-of-code product in my store. I was also very good at maintaining back stock and making sure it got worked to to the shelf. Another role of mine, was to provide excellent customer service in the workplace and engaging in conversations with my customers to build relationships with them, to see what their needs are so I can give them the best experience possible, and to provide them with what they need specifically. I also wrote the schedule for all 80+ of my associates, as well as approved vacation and time off requests, and submitted specific hiring needs for my store. Below is a bulleted list of other duties I had in my role;
  • Oversaw inventory management through cycle counts, audits and shrinkage control.
  • Managed inventory tracking and physical inventory counts to minimize loss.
  • Increased store revenues by cultivating new customers, providing superior service and applying pricing strategies and up-selling techniques. (Selling location specific items per the retirement community area that I was located in).
  • Maintained inventory, checking stock and keeping up with fluctuating supply and demand.
  • Built customer confidence by actively listening to concerns and complaints and quickly resolving issues with superior customer service.
  • Reviewed customer feedback to make operational improvements and promote satisfaction.
12/2012 to 06/2013
FOD Manager Smiths Food And Drug City, STATE,

I jumped ship in 2013 for what I thought was going to be a better employment opportunity with Kroger, at Smiths Food & Drug. I left Albertson's & Von's, due to the possibility of losing my job from the Haggen re-branding and initial start of the cerberus purchase of Supervalu companies. This was a very short lived position, before I accepted my offer at Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Maket. Below is a bulleted list of some of my duties in this role;

  • Completed thorough opening, closing and shift change functions to maintain operational standards each day with front end manager.
  • Received grocery load and filed BOL (Bill of lading) for orders
  • Led team meetings, also known as 'Huddles' and one-on-one coaching sessions to continuously improve performance in grocery.
  • Communicated company directives and programs to associates and ensured all follow-up items were completed accurately and timely to be in compliance with Kroger planogram audits per company standards.
  • Rolled out 'Mark Tuffins' management training programs/guide for my grocery crew, to learn how to be more efficent in their roles.
  • wrote schedule for grocery department
07/2007 to 12/2012
CENTER STORE/FOD MANAGER Albertsons & Vons Markets City, STATE,
  • I was responsible for general management of the store, during off-hours and during the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director, closing/opening cash registers, inventory, ordering, un- loading freight, stocking and facing the product, management of shrinkage, waste and overall store cleanliness. I also helped in writing schedules and maintaining my store for a great impression on my customers and setting compliance standards, as well as specialty food standards for our location in a Jewish community where we had a Kosher foods specialist 'Yehuda" called a Lead 'Mashgiach' or 'Mashgicha' that I worked very closely with, to ensure we received the proper items per personal requests from our Jewish cliental in the Anthem Highlands county club community, and Del Webb community. Below is a bulleted list of some specialized actions I took in my role of FOD Manager at the time;
  • Implemented successful business strategies with Lead Masgiach 'Yehuda' to increase revenue and target new markets. (Specifically the Kosher foods market).
  • Formed and sustained strategic relationships with Jewish clients that provided us with at least 80% of our business.
  • Coordinated and directed activities of businesses, and Jewish Temples in the area concerning production, pricing and sales, and provided food for local activities and functions.
06/2004 to 07/2007
Courtesy Clerk, Receiving Associate, Support MGR. WALMART SUPER-CENTERS INC City, STATE,
  • I started as a courtesy clerk (2004-2005) and then promoted to receiving clerk and support manager (2006-2007). This position required me to unload freight, stock and face the product on the shelves. The job also required that I work with very strenuous time constraints, within a team environment. I later obtained a support supervisor position. This position also required me to set up aisle-stacks, end caps and work freight with my crew while supervising them. I was directed to make sure they were throwing freight at the necessary speed to be in compliance with the company’s productivity standards. I resigned after graduating High School, and locating my position with Albertson’s, which afforded me a higher salary, the opportunity for advancement, willing to work with my school schedule in college and a location far closer to my residence.
