The best SOA implementation for requirement was incorporated through the use of loosely coupled modules like Calculation Engine, Variance engine and Risk Data store. In order to optimize the request-response times, we kept the interactions lightweight between these modules, due to network being a bottleneck. And the caching services provided the necessary mapping for static data objects, which acted as a cross-cutting concern spanning all modules. Thus, the business team achieved a decoupled and AGILE system, while the development speed was optimized through modularization alongside the use of disparate technologies like .NET (Front-end) and Java (Middleware).
Intelligent Data Acquisition and Accessioning (IDAA) system is used extensively by all Quest labs to process the diagnostic tests of the patients. The operators use the system to input test details of patients ordered by doctors and to generate bar-code labels for the specimen tubes. The system then can read bar-code labels to retrieve patient information. This can also process electronic orders received in HL7 format files using DataStage. The system also generates various reports using Cognos.
