As a classically trained chef, you learn the importance of teamwork. Every individual in a kitchen must be working towards the same goal. There is a clearly defined hierarchy to the structure of a well managed kitchen. Understanding and respecting that hierarchy is a skill that can be transferred and applied to any professional outlet. I also learned the basics of managing a small business and keeping a small business afloat.  I learned about the finances of running a restaurant as well as planning for financial success in a business.
 
I was one of the top students in my class.  I worked very hard, I studied very hard and I was recognized for my abilities to lead by example.  I was a part of the student leadership and worked towards setting up a student mentoring program to assist the school in retaining students. 
Leadership Memphis Memphis, TN Expected in 2013 : Fast Track - GPA : Leadership Memphis is a program focused on examining the specific challenges and strengths of the city of Memphis. You must be nominated to be considered for the fast track program.  They pull together a group of people that want to improve their communities.  At the end of the program, each person is required to set a goal for themselves.  I am very proud to say that I have reached the goal that I set at the end of this program which was to join and be active in a community organization.
Professional Experience
Berry, Appleman & Leiden - Promotional Products Manager
Washington, DC, 08/2015 - Current
As the promotional products manager I am responsible for sourcing new products, suggestive selling, and managing the orders from beginning to end.  I create promotional flyers for the new products.  I do mock ups of prospective mock ups of products for customers that I believe would fit their industry.  I assist the sales team in sourcing products for specific requests they receive from customers.  I also do the majority of the purchasing of these promotional product orders and manage all orders with the vendors until they are shipped and invoiced.  Once the vendor has shipped and invoiced the order, I close out our order and submit the order to our billing department.  This department has experienced an increase of 11% so far this calendar year.  I hold an industry certification as a Trained Advertising Specialist.

I am responsible for scheduling the production of art for screen-printing. I must read the art instructions provided by the customer service person, ask questions about any instructions that are unclear and then evaluate which of my artists is best suited to create the graphic for that specific order. I make that evaluation based on the abilities of the artist and the specific requirements of the job.I am also responsible for following up on all art approvals to make sure that production has the materials they need before the due date of the order. I also do simple art mock ups as well as create promotional flyers.

I am responsible for purchasing all raw materials needed for every department in the company. I purchase everything from blank t-shirts to the chemicals we need to reclaim our screens. I was responsible for checking each invoice we received from our vendors against our purchase orders. If those documents matched up, I would set the invoice up for payment. If those documents did not match up, I would investigate the reasons that they did not match and get the issues resolved.  I was also responsible for balancing the statements from our vendors, printing and mailing the checks.  Part of my duties included filling in for the accounts receivable clerk when she was out.  I would receive the payments and prepare the bank deposit as well as invoice completed orders.

I am responsible for keeping the signed contracts for several major brands. I also track the sales we make for these brands and prepare royalty reports. These reports are typically done on a quarterly basis and must be done by a specific date to avoid penalties.  I keep physical and digital copies of all contracts and reports. I am also responsible for obtaining art approvals for each design we do for these brands.
Columbus Hospitality - Pastry Chef

As the pastry chef of a kosher facility, I was responsible for preparing desserts based on the parameters of the Jewish religion.  I would create new desserts for the chef to add to the menu. I was also responsible for stocking the dessert case of the deli that was in the facility. The deli was frequented by employees of the facility as well as friends and families of the patients. When I had time, I would assist the deli workers with preparing savory food and stocking the salad bar.

As a baker at Oh Susanna's I was responsible for maintaining the inventory of muffins, cakes, cupcakes and cookies. I would stock the pastry cabinet daily with freshly decorated pastries.  I would also come up with new products to try for limited times. I was also responsible for assisting the owner in the daily operations.

As plant manager I was responsible for the daily operations of the entire production facility. I would make the production schedule as well as the employee schedule. I would manage major production projects.  I was responsible for approving the payroll. I was responsible for hiring and retaining employees.
