U.S. Army Medical Command-KAHC (40 hrs/ week) 10/2012-Present Performs a variety of receptionist, clerical and record-keeping duties and procedures. Receives telephone calls and visitors to a clinic, obtains identifying information and determines the nature and urgency of the patient's request. Apply clinic guidelines concerning release of patient information. Verify patient's eligibility for treatment (DEERS check, hospital card, etc.). Refer ineligible patients to the Patient Administration Division. Schedules and coordinates appointments for patients with all clinics, ensures all appointments requested by the physician have been scheduled and reschedules appointments when necessary. Knowledge of clinic procedures for scheduling appointments and referring patients to appropriate sections for appointments or treatment for referral of patients to other medical clinics for appropriate tests, consultations, or care and for providing general information regarding clinic operating policies; contacting patients, providers, and other staff to obtain disposition of referral; generating reports which assist the administration in evaluating the program; and any other duties necessary to complete the referral process in a timely manner. Identifies situations when referred clinic is not capable of requested workload and makes recommendations to provider to refer patient to a more appropriate clinic. Independently coordinates with clinics, providers, and other ancillary services to obtain the disposition of requested services and treatment within the Health Medical Center or at other Military Medical Treatment Facilities, TRICARE Network, and Non-Network providers. Generates a variety of reports to indicate the current status of consults and referrals submitted by providers within the Health Clinic. Prepares releases of information for patients and staff. Identifies system inefficiencies and upgrades the referral procedures to improve upon the process when necessary. SALES STORE CHECKER Defense Commissary Agency; APO, AE (20-40 hrs/week) 08/2010-10/2011 Operate an Electronic Point of Sale cash register coupled to a scanning system and scale and/or a stand-alone register system to record unit prices, proper accounts (subsistence, meat, produce and sensitive items), purchase totals, surcharge and change. Scan items or enters proper Look-Up Code for random weight or scaled items such as produce. Receive and verify change fund and checks register. Responsible for answering questions and complaints of customers. Provide assistance in arriving at solutions according to established policy. Perform other related duties such as pricing, scanning, stocking merchandise, cleaning work area, and participate in inventories. Turn in cash and other media and clean the check stand and surrounding area. Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties. Greet or welcome customers with a warm personality. Operate cash register or other sales related equipment; balances daily financial transactions. Practices loss prevention procedures and performs other related retail duties. Noted for personal service, concern for personal customers, amiable disposition and knowledge of AAFES/Retail policies and business procedures. Take time to identify their needs by politely asking questions and concentrating on what patient is really saying. Listen to their words, tone of voice, body language, and most importantly, how they feel. Identify and anticipate needs. Ability to communicate well and aware of problems or upcoming needs. Making sure that patients feel important and appreciated. Help patients understand the work flow of management. Always look for ways to help patient's problems. Assist in the preparation of medical terminology and files authorized documents ensuring proper sequencing of forms. Perform administrative duties and prepares appropriate forms for patient to fill out and to process and report very seriously ill patients. Prepare patient and associated documentation for medical evaluation. Ability to perform a variety of tasks to assist the Optometrist in eye examinations and corrective procedures. Record patients medical histories and help prepare the patient for the vision examination. Assist with the tests that help ensure the accurate diagnosis and treatment of a diseased eye. Conduct patients pre-testing such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, pupil reflexes, visual field testing and pressure inside the eye. Assisting the patients with the frame selections, helping repair eyeglasses, putting in contacts and cleaning sophisticated ocular equipment. SALES CLERK AAFES VENDOR (NIKE); APO, AP (20-40 hrs/week) 11/2008-02/2009 Treating customers with efficiency and respect while answering their questions about the products. Responsible for taking and processing the customers payments. Being able to use computerized cash register and give accurate change and understanding the product being sold. Able to make the customer feel comfortable and not under pressure to buy something. Patience, a calm attitude and the ability to make good judgment calls in stressful work situations. Do tasks such as tracking inventory, budget execution, stocking products on shelves and keeping the store clean and responsible for opening and closing the store on time.
