I am motivated to learn new skills and technologies, grow and contribute to team success through hard work, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Cinnabar was one of the largest set, prop and special-effects companies with offices in Hollywood and Florida. I began my relationship with Cinnabar as a consultant to integrate 3 disparate accounting systems by purchasing and modifying a source-code accounting system into a highly-customized industry-specific product. I joined them full-time to manage their internal network, accounting and phone systems. I became an integral part of the company, having contributed to many departments and providing technological leadership. In later years I took on new responsibilities estimating, bidding and managing client projects. I introduced new digital technologies into their tried-and-true analog methodology such as color-calibrated digital printing systems for their graphics and props departments, and 3D scanning and modeling for their sculpting and set-design teams.
I joined Key Information Systems as a growing startup with 6 employees. We forged a successful sales team, carrying hardware and software primarily in the IBM Partner community. Building an organization with sweat equity, I built and refined email, VoIP, VPN and other services to power our expansion into a $30 million/year company. I had the opportunity to challenge myself with new computing technologies from the early days of the Internet.
My role grew with Key's success, managing all IT, telecommunications, and security services for the Company. The growth of Key necessitated a move to new office space. I coordinated design and construction of new, expanded offices including construction of a small datacenter, paving the way for Key to enter the website and server hosting business. I built out a team to support both our internal and external clients. I architected a transition to virtualized computing with VMware and began our foray into private cloud computing.
I accepted a new challenge with the acquisition of Internet Specialties West. I took over management of two colocation datacenters, the regional ISP business and the 24/7 engineering team supporting these lines of business. I established a plan to rehabilitate and update the datacenters which were suffering from several years of deferred maintenance, and coordinated the build-out of redundant power and HVAC systems for the primary datacenter, which was only 65% complete. I architected and managed projects to install a dark-fiber network between our multiple points-of-presence and adding multiple upstream service providers to offer a superior, highly-redundant blended Internet product to the 300+ clients using our datacenters and ISP products. I managed relationships and negotiated contracts with our WAN providers. I worked with our account managers and clients to design WAN solutions and create proposals.
I oversaw projects to modernize the management systems, implement ticketing and change-management. I worked with our team to write and implement policies and procedures to enable the Company to perform successful annual audits for SSAE16/18 SOC 1, SOC 2 Type 1 and 2 as well as HIPAA HiTECH attestations for the last 5 years. I worked with our Director of Cloud Services to implement an environment providing the first IBM Power Systems cloud offering in the marketplace, alongside Openstack-managed Linux and Windows VMs. The most complex project was migrating 300+ client connections off the aging Cisco 6500 WAN distribution network to Nexus-based 10Gb switches with minimal client disruption.
