This program/home was set up for an autistic individual that is/was rehabilitating from being institutionalized and recovering from past traumas that occurred due to misunderstandings that ended with the individual becoming very physically aggressive. Annual training on how to deal with physically aggressive behavior, preferably through deescalation, was required to work at this program. Other required annual training required was medication administration and First aid/CPR. Monthly training on person centered planning and dealing with physical aggression was also provided at staff meetings. To be prepared to work with this individual the original staff involved in opening this site also had extensive training on autism and person centered planning. This was by far the most fun home that i have worked with purely due to watching the individual grow and progress.
