I worked for Applebee's as a Service Manager, Bar Manager and Kitchen Manager over my 10 year career with them. I was responsible for the daily operations of the restaurants with oversight from my General Managers and Area Directors. I would write daily and weekly schedules for a staff of 20 to 50 employees, conduct daily and weekly inventory and product control. I would create and monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales goals for the FOH employees.
I started with Ground Round as a line cook and quickly moved up the ranks to Assistant Kitchen Manager and then Kitchen Manager. As Kitchen Manager I was responsible for streamlining the menu and on hand inventory. With the help of my General Manager we instituted a new training program and brought food and labor costs in line with our monthly and yearly budget.
Continually monitored restaurant and took appropriate action to ensure food quality and service standards were consistently met.
Friendly's was my first restaurant job, I started as a dishwasher and prep cook and moved up to the Assistant Kitchen Manager. I worked as a server, host and togo specialist as well. I learned a lot in those two years and picked up quite a few important skills such as staff development and training, schedule writing, product ordering and storage and inventory practices.
