I currently serve as the Coordinator of Admissions & Professional Programs in the Office of Advanced Engineering Education (OAEE) at the University of Maryland.
In this role I am responsible for managing the admissions process for over 1,000 annual applicants.
On a daily basis I work with faculty, administrators, and OAEE staff to promote our programs, review application files, create professional development courses, and plan marketing and recruitment events.
Application Review Management: I use several programs by Hobsons to coordinate the application review process.
I also serve as the first reviewer for all graduate applications, and make recommendations to the Executive Director.
I then work with the Graduate School to ensure all applications are complete, and the acceptance process progresses quickly and smoothly.
International Admissions: I recruit international applicants to apply and enroll in OAEE programs through online open houses and web meetings.
I serve as the first reviewer of international materials as a credit evaluator.
I also ensure that English proficiency requirements are met.
Course Development: I manage the Professional Engineer (PE) Exam Review course that OAEE offers.
I advertise the course, manage the registration process, accept and process payments, gather and assemble materials, and work with Engineering faculty to ensure the course meets all standards.
Event Coordination: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing recruitment and awareness events.
I manage a $50,000 event budget which is used for catering, registration fees, and set-up costs.
Events include New Student Orientation, Graduation, and the PE Exam Review Course.
Exhibitions/Recruitment: I am responsible for representing Professional Master's and Graduate Certificate in Engineering programs at both on and off campus recruitment events.
This typically entails a program overview, as well as organizing travel and exposition space.
I also help manage the strategic communication initiatives for the office and implement now campaigns.
and Analysis: I use a CRM, an Application Management System, and an Application Review System daily to manage the admissions process for the Office.
This includes running queries, building contacts, and using information to shape application review and recruitment strategies.
Collaboration: I have worked with several members of faculty to plan and conduct online open house events using Adobe Connect and Zoom.
I also share admissions information with program advisors and assist with credit evaluation.
I also play an integral role in shaping the recruitment and review strategy.
Accomplishments include: Created and implemented a new prospect management process that helps to better track inquiries.
This allows for better and more pertinent contact between my office and prospective students.
Applications to the eighteen different programs within OAEE increased approximately 7% during my first semester.
I have increased the faculty and program advisor presence in recruitment events by promoting the importance of their participation.

I worked in the Admissions Communications Center where I fielded inquiries from applicants, parents, school counselors, and prospective students.
On a daily basis, I worked closely with freshman, transfer, and international students.
I collaborated with my colleagues to provide a high standard of customer service.
I also served on the Events Team, and played a key role in on and off-campus recruitment events that ranged in size from five and three thousand guests.
Marketing & Strategic Communication: I worked daily with those that shape the marketing strategy of the Office of Enrollment Management at the University of Maryland.
I met with colleagues to discuss social media platforms and the general visit experience at the University.
Presentations: I conducted approximately sixty My Maryland presentations (general admissions overview) annually for prospective students.

Diversity Initiatives: I served on the EDGE Committee, which planed day-long events for students admitted to the University and aided in the yielding of a diverse student body.
Event Planning Assistance: I served on planning committees and in other capacities at Admissions events, such as giving presentations, and assisted with the execution of breakout sessions.
Accomplishments included: promptly managed a large influx of inquiries while providing a high standard of customer service.
In a work week, I was responsible for replying to 500 emails and 100 phone calls.
Played a role in encouraging over 28,000 students to apply, and helped manage file review and public inquiry associated with the admissions process.
Admission Counselor & First Year Experience CoordinatorMay 2013 to Nov 2014 The Ohio State University
I managed the Greater Cleveland recruitment territory for Ohio State Mansfield and counseled first year, transfer, and non-traditional students on the admissions process via phone, email, in-person appointments, and presentations.
I worked closely with other Student Life professionals to coordinate and execute recruitment and student enrichment events.
This led me to have extensive event planning and student development experience.
Territory Management: As territory manager I managed communications, events, and recruitment.
I analyzed and managed all prospective student communication, admitted student inquiries, and fees paid student roster to recognize trends and patterns in the prospective student body.
I worked closely with the Director of Admissions and Chief Enrollment and Retention Officer on developing and implementing new recruitment and enrollment strategies.
Supervisory Experience: Under my direct supervision were three student groups in the Admissions Office.
I was responsible for all hiring, firing, training, and managed a $35,000 budget.
I coordinated the Buckeye Ambassador Program, and the Telecounseling program, which were part of the strategic communication plan of the office.
Orientation Committee Chair: As the Orientation Committee Chair, I oversaw the Autumn and Spring Orientation programs, implemented new ideas, managed the schedule, and supervised all communications with the incoming freshmen class.
Teaching and Public Speaking: I have taken on a variety of teaching and public speaking roles.
As a teacher and coordinator in the College Awareness Program and Buckeye Application Program, I helped bring focus to urban schools with a high number of first-generation college students in attendance.
Recruiting: As an Admissions Counselor and Territory Manager, I developed scripts, correspondence, social media messaging, letters, emails, and publications targeted at prospective students and parents.
As a recruiter, my recruitment territory covered a 7 county region in Northeast Ohio.

Accomplishments included: a 25% increase in applications from my recruitment territory with a 5% increase in yield.

Haiti Empowerment Project Les Cayes, Haiti Resident Director, Student Organization and Leadership Field group March 2014 I supervised and managed the student organization and leadership field group during the Haiti Empowerment Project's Spring 2014 service learning trip.
Instruction: Provided guidance and instruction to student participants during pre-trip preparation.
I also created professional development curriculum for onsite partnership with L'Université Notre-Dame d'Haïti Collaboration: Worked with Ohio State faculty and staff do enhance the student experience, and have the greatest impact possible during the trip to Haiti.

Accomplishments included: a 25.12% increase in undergraduate applications for the autumn 2013 semester overall with an increase of 53.38% for out of state students.
