Oversee and perform high complexity testing in a core laboratory setting which include clinical microscopy, clinical chemistry, serology and critically studied flow cytometry as covered by standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Help to originate policy guidance and develop SOPs for new laboratory tests.
Part of a team responsible for Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement oversight/support, assuring compliance with quality control and proficiency testing programs, safety requirements, and standards set by department, accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Plan for and implement Laboratory improvement programs.
Validate the adequacy and appropriateness of quality control programs and the completion of corrective actions and documentation for all identified problems.
Review Section Performance Evaluation and Improvement reports, identify trends, and provide analytical assistance in recommending policy changes based on review findings.
Plan, manage, and monitor the activities and resources in a clinical core laboratory setting and resolve daily problems in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted quality service to customers and patients.
Serve as a section technical expert on clinical core laboratory testing. As a technical expert, train and consult with personnel including leadership staff, department chiefs, physicians, and other medical center staff.
Direct technical operations, working from a broad set of goals and policies, to ensure laboratory accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in support of the Core Laboratory and the Department of Pathology.

Possess expert knowledge of the principles, theories, and accepted practices of clinical laboratory sciences pertaining to the testing of human blood, body fluid, urine, solid tissues and stool specimen.
Assist in supervising assigned Medical Technologist, Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants by monitoring workflow to meet testing schedules; distributing and reviewing work assignments; training employees in laboratory techniques; resolving work related problems.
Review unit activities to ensure compliance with departmental policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
Have expert knowledge and experience in troubleshooting laboratory analyzers, and have been called in various occasions to resolve complex diagnostic and technical issues. Have worked independently and with minimal supervision for over 2years and 7 months. Mostly 1st shift and sometimes 3rd (night) shift hours.

Serve as a technical resource for the unit by investigating and resolving analytical testing problems, recommending a course of action in instances identified as beyond acceptable limits.

Process laboratory specimens in support of patients care and diagnosis
Conduct high complexity testing in chemistry, hematology, manual differentials, toxicology, urinalysis, body fluid, serology and microbiology.
Calibrate, run Quality Controls and assurance on test systems and analyzers
Processed an average of 6,000 specimens per month.
Document results in CHCS, provided timely result to health care providers.
Routinely Beckman Culter 700 / 750 series , Stago, and Iris analyzers.
Follow established guidelines in accessioning specimens using CHCS.
Performs manual backup during CHCS down time. Have an outstanding professional knowledge of specimen categories.
Act in compliance with quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, safety standards set by CAP and other government authorities.
Participate in laboratory improvement programs; perform maintenance on equipment, and take corrective actions should QC indicators fails.
