I have worked in Retail jobs most of my life. My first job was at Hardee's in Miami Florida. I moved back here and got a job at Grand Union. I started as a cashier and was promoted to scanning coordinator. I loved it. I was responsible for making sure our weekly sale scanned correctly. I was also responsible for making sure the vendors products scanned correctly as well. It was a stressful job but one I loved. It was a learning experience and I'm so great ful for the opportunity. It taught me so much about how a business ran. Things updated over the years and the store merged. I realized that my job was becoming out of date. So I moved on. I worked in management for Dummerston Neighbors. I started as a cashier. We changed from a old school register to a touch screen. I went through the training. I was responsible for teaching my cashier's. That store was extremely busy. I would have 3 cashier's per shift. The money that went through the store was unlike I have seen again. The river brought much of the business. I dealt with gas, lottery, mega bucks, cigs, scheduling, ordering, and paperwork. I would do the day before paperwork the next day. I was a cashier just like my employees. I put in crazy hours not to mention responsibility's. The money that moved through the store was stressful. Keeping up on the day to day changes and being accurate was a must. Management help was differcult to keep. My girl's stuck with me until the end. I would go in early for hunting season. I knew every customer by name. It's not like that today. I got burent out and needed a change. So I moved on. I am a fast learner, dependable and honest. I am a people person, enjoy working with the public, good with money handling and paperwork. I have many years in retail and customer service. I took the LNA course because my mom became ill. I knew it would come to me talking care of her at some point. I graduated from the Thompson House. I only took it for the reason I mentioned. It taught me much more than I ever imagined. It was a hard course but I have no regrets. I took care of my mom for a few years. She passed away in 2016. It was the toughest thing I have ever been through. I choose to work PT today. I have always had a special place in my heart for helping others. I decided when the opiates crises hit that I needed to get involved. I am a recovery coach, certified in Narcan, ran a group, was on a couple board's. I'm going back to school for drug and alcohol counseling. Prior to the pandemic life was going great. I was living in Wilmington Vt. But sadly it all stopped. Within minutes it was gone. I have since moved back to Brattleboro. The economy was already suffering. I no longer could see any opportunities for me. I have no regret. It's just a matter of getting through this nightmare. It's effected so many of us negativity. Our streets are a mess. I will be there with my hand out. That's what is really going to be needed. I believe everything happens for a reason. This town is going to need a caring hand. I will be there to help who I can. I miss working. It makes me feel good about myself. I've had to my entire life. I can't just sit and do nothing all day. I need something more than doing nothing with my life. Work is a must!!
