Summary

Aerospace mechanical Drafter & Designer looking to transition into CAD leadership. For 4 years I served as a member of Boeing Long Beach's Subject Matter Expert board. I worked with CAD leadership in Puget Sound when my users had issues or to build up my understanding of CATIA. Oftentimes I was I was fortunate enough to work on a pilot program to develop model based definition drawings of Composite Waste Ducts using CATIA's Composite Design workbench. I have experience on many of Boeing's airplane programs including 787 and some 777X and almost all of Boeing's out of production aircraft from the 737CL, 757 and 747. I enjoy helping others to reach their dreams by mentoring them, explaining CAD processes or even developing tools for them. I am a person that believes in evaluating processes and keeping them up to date and responsive to user and regulator needs.

Experience
06/2013 to Current CAD Designer/Engineering Technician Boeing Commercial Airplanes | City, STATE,

RelJessicat Project Highlights:

Boeing's New Checking Tool:

  • Worked with Boeing CAD Standards group as an impartial consultant for their new CAD checking tool.
  • Evaluated other Boeing developed and supplier developed tools and presented my views to CAD Standards leadership and tool owner.
  • Gave feedback on the new checking tool's direction and sat in on development meetings.
  • Spoke with coworkers to get future user feedback for the tool owner.

737 Max Blanket Mass Material change:

  • Developed a VB.NET program using CATIAs API to handle multiple aspects of a large scale engineering change. The application was designed to be used by unskilled users. The output of blanket releases went from 7 blankets a day to 13 for an individual.
  • Program Functions: search two excel files for values with a search bar. Used regex to search Boeing configuration text to check for incorrect values. Program updated drawing and did various cleanup functions. Working in both the drawing and part design workbenches.
  • Utilized an existing Boeing developed Macro tool experimentally to finish the rest of the change
  • Taught international engineering partners the use of the tool
  • Worked with the tool developer to identify an issue in the program

MBD Tool Development:

  • Developed an MBD tool that was a meritorious invention recipient. I created the tool because I saw my coworker struggling to create large notes and read them with Boeing's Model Based Definition processes.
  • Tool used an novel UI where it mimicked a tool bar. Could save settings, undo, find and replace. Edit multiple notes in a geoset.
  • Tool was implemented in Long Beach Modifications and Boeing South Carolina, and chosen to be incorporated into Boeing's Macro Suite "KBE V5 Tools".

Drawing Tool Development:

  • Reverse Engineers Boeing's title block editing program to product a faster title block editor. Boeing developed something similar in their macro suite, but it was incomplete.
  • Program Functions: Faster editing times, Read Boeing's Title Block .INI Files, use Regex to find incorrectly formatted scale text, check for incorrect values between sheets. Copy from one sheet to the other. Error handling and non-intrusive error notification.

737 BCF Main Deck Cargo Door Mechanism:

  • Applied and utilized ASME y-14.5 2009 GD&T to develop drawings from concepts for the 737-800 BCF Main Deck cargo door's main drive mechanism, Pull-In Hooks and all from details to assemblies to installations.
  • Tolerances such as close ream hole limit tolerances, true position, profile of a surface, Assembly tolerances.
  • Updated models as required for changes

737 BCF Main Deck Cargo Door Structure:

  • Led the 3D modeling effort for 737-BCF Main Deck Cargo Door surrounding structure. Utilizing surfacing techniques, Aerospace sheet metal. Crown Frame assemblies, Keel Frame Assemblies, Secondary support for cargo linings, Skin Panels.
  • This was a hybrid of V4-V5 mass conversion, and new models from drawings or incomplete CAD geometry.
  • Led 4 other designers and taught them new techniques.

767 Long Flow Structural Repairs:

  • Developed with engineer modified wing rib configurations for structural repair.
  • Developed multiple part configurations depending on input from stress analysis
  • Analyzed surrounding structural conditions to verify that repair installation would be feasible
  • Modeled all surrounding structure such as composite sandwich skin panels from drawings
  • Developed with engineer repair to door sill stringer, similar to above

787 Structures Value Engineering

  • Change the composition of the 787 Shear Ties "lowboys" from one type of high-volume composites material to another in order to remove a sole source manufacturer
  • Mass change thickness seed model geometry of 787 low boy shear ties worked with rules and relations. developed my own scripts to execute the work and back check.

Interiors Value Engineering

  • Developed multiple designs reducing part count resulting in significant cost savings. Over 5 years projected savings of 4+ million dollars.
  • Worked independently to develop my own cost savings.
  • Investigated and employed new technology to replace metallic parts, or reduce the amount of metallic parts.
  • Designed a feasible composite part to replace complicated multi-assembly sheet metal bracket.
  • Projects – Lining arm rest bracket redesign, mechanism guard redesign, Cargo access chute. Overwing Exit Hatch & Door Lining design studies.
  • Worked with manufacturing to integrate part tooling into designs to save costs. Examples: tool holes added to part & included into stress analysis, adding locating features for assembly into machined hogout.
03/2012 to 12/2012 AutoCAD Draftsman Sherrin Glass And Metal | City, STATE,
  • Received and reviewed details from design professionals to determine precise measurements for drawing preparation.
  • Created designs using computer programs such as AutoCAD to complete shop drawings.
01/2011 to 12/2011 Contract Draftsman ZMD International Inc. | City, STATE,

Developed Input Output Diagrams for PLCs from foreman's sketches.
