  • Oversee day to day operations as it relates to North Carolina Ferry Division Marine Maintenance Unit. These duties include supervising the Ferry Division Environmental Supervisor, Environmental Specialist, Marine Maintenance Engineer, Resident Engineer, two, 8-personnel shifts that perform dredging, dolphin, and ramp and gantry maintenance. Supervise a 9-personnel team that perform maintenance at all Ferry Operation Facilities including the North Carolina State Shipyard.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, prioritization, and planning of dredge operations of State Maintained Ferry Channels.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all State Maintained Ferry Channels have an annual bathymetric survey completed to identify upcoming dredging needs to maintain the current level of service provided by the Ferry Division. Responsible for annual inspection, prioritization, and maintenance of all dolphins to maintain ferry service.
  • Responsible for annual inspection, maintenance, and prioritization of all North Carolina Ferry Ramps and Gantries to ensure current level of service provided by the ferries for the general public.

  • Prioritizing all Facility Maintenance requests from the Ferry Operations and assigns work to be completed by Ferry Division Facility Maintenance personnel.

Acquire proper permits from various State and Federal Agencies including North Carolina Division of Coastal Management, North Carolina Division of Water Resources, Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Section, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and National Park Service.
  • Adheres to strict operation and maintenance regulations by following instructions and observing guidelines.
  • Serves as Ferry Division Liaison with Army Corps of Engineers Navigation section to address dredging needs, as it pertains to Federally Maintained Channels used by the North Carolina Ferry Division.

  • Supervised the Ferry Division Underground Storage Tank permits at all necessary Ferry Division locations. Ensured all records were kept onsite by the Ferry Operations and available upon inspection by the North Carolina Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Underground Storage Tank  Division.  Coordinated with NCDOT Equipment Unit to ensure all forms were properly completed and up to date, to prevent any violations.
