"While executive hiring can happen at any time, senior job searches do have seasons where things tend to be most active—January through mid-June is the biggest uninterrupted time for search," says Howard Seidel, senior partner at Essex Partners. While the first quarter is seen as an active hiring time, that's not true of all industries. For example, tax and accounting professionals' busy season is from January to April, so there may not be a lot of openings during that time.
For other seasonal jobs – such as working in a ski resort or working in a winery – the hiring peaks at different times, so it pays to be familiar with an industry's busy cycles and know when they'll be ramping up hiring. However, never let the "peak" interview times dissuade you from staying aware of opportunities. If you're always networking, you'll be ready to jump on promising job leads no matter when they occur.
