People who have a career may think about ways to improve even when away from work – those with a job may not give it a second thought.
According to Pew research, about half of U.S. workers describe their job as a career, while 18 percent say it is a steppingstone to a career. "Those who describe their job as a career tend to be at least 30 years old and well educated, with higher incomes and holding full-time, salaried jobs," Pew reports. Some 51 percent of employed Americans say they get a sense of identity from their job, while 47 percent say their job is just what they do for a living.
