The way to get a job fast is:
- Be visible and easily found, making full use of online job ads and social media to find openings.
- Communicate with employers, apply to jobs, and maintain a professional profile.
- Use both a push and pull strategy -- getting a job is both about searching and being sought out.
- Never act desperate.
Getting a job fast may involve being more aggressive with a pull strategy, including making cold calls to potential employers, and generating your own leads through various guerilla job search tactics.
It may also involve lowering your standards, by accepting a job that is easily available, or for which you are vastly overqualified. In that case, you need to be very careful, and minimize anything that throws you off track from your main job search, or takes you out of the job market altogether.
Don’t count out a temporary or gig opportunity, or going through a staffing agency, especially if any of those provides a good way to get your foot in the door at a company or industry you want to work in. Doing volunteer work can also be useful, as it can help you be visible to potential employers or expand your network, and all while contributing to a good cause.
