Your preparation begins with knowing who you are as a professional. Review your career accomplishments and perfect them into on-point answers to common interview questions. Try to find out what to expect in your interview, bone up on your knowledge of the employer, and practice mock interviews to polish your presentation.
On the day of the interview itself, first impressions are vital. Dress fit the organization’s culture, but lean a bit towards the conservative side. Arrive around 15 minutes early and treat everyone you encounter courteously.
Don’t forget that your closing matters just as much as your performance during the interview. Ask your interviewer some key questions based on your research, thank the person for your time, and inquire about the next step in the process. Finally, remember to send thank-you notes to the people with whom you spoke and continue to follow up with the employer after your interview.
